PSOE members vote in favour of amnesty and another term for Sanchez as PM
PSOE members have voted in favour of another term for Pedro Sánchez as prime minister, and also ratified the agreement that he grants amnesty to those involved in the disputed 2017 Catalan independence bid.
In response, Catalan pro-independence parties, the ERC and Junts per Catalunya, have stated that their support remains contingent on the amnesty being granted.
PSOE members also voted in favour of forming a coalition government with the left-wing Sumar alliance.
The vote comes ahead of the forthcoming investiture vote, which the largest party in the Congress of Deputies – PP – has criticized.
Speaking yesterday, a spokesperson for the conservative party criticised Sánchez for agreeing to the amnesty as part of a confidence and supply agreement.
