The driver of the vehicle has been arrested, and currently an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident, however police have said they do not suspect terrorism.

One person is understood to be in a serious condition, with five being taken to hospital for treatment.

Mayor of the city – Francisco de la Torre Prados – said in a statement that the driver is understood to be a Spanish national aged in their thirties. It is also understood that the car had passengers on board when the accident occurred.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at around 3.22 this afternoon, with the car driving onto Calle Miguel Cano.
