Torrevieja and Zaragoza have declared official mourning and held minutes of silence following the deaths of a three‑year‑old girl in Alicante and a woman shot in Zaragoza, both in suspected cases of gender‑based violence.

Officials for the Ayuntamiento de Torrevieja have approved work to be carried out on the Monument to the Man of the Sea sculpture, which is located on the seafront.

In a meeting of the AGAMED board of directors held this week, they voted to improve the sanitation network in the area, and to tackle the rainwater collection network, which is prone to failure during torrential rainfall.
New collection and storage pools are to be constructed, which will allow run off water to be stored ahead of purification and use at a later date, along with new pumping stations and improved drainage systems.
Proposals for the €277 million line would see a track built from Torrevieja alongside the CV-95 with stations at a number of towns and villages along the way, terminating at Orihuela’s station for connections to the national high speed rail network.
The proposal – designed by a team at the University of Alicante – is expected to carry over 1.2 million passengers a year, with a million of those being long haul travellers.
Two shows are to take place tomorrow and on Saturday which will feature award winning contemporary dance acts from across the country.
“Mulier” features five female dancers performing on stilts, telling the story of female identiy, whilst “Vigor Mortis” delves into dreams, nightmares and the afterlife.
Both events are to take place at Torrevieja’s munincpal theatre.
588,000 journeys were made on the network last month, the first time that passenger numbers rose month on month since the start of the pandemic.
Line 2 saw the highest number of journeys, followed by Line 1. Line 3 came in third position. Luceros station saw the highest number of passengers pass through with a total of 88,000 people using the stop, followed by Mercado and Sant Vicent del Raspeig.
23 restaurants across the city will take place in the socially distanced sixth event of its kind, promoting some of the dining experiences across the area.
As well as discounted food and drink, there will also be the chance to win with a raffle for those who wish to take part.
The event is being seen as a boost to local businesses who have struggled during the coronavirus pandemic.
