Weather warning issued for strong winds and rough seas in Canaries
A weather warning has been issued for parts of the Canary Islands, as storm force winds are expected to bring disruption to the Western islands and Gran Canaria.
Aemet issued a weather warning for today stating that winds of up to 110km/h could make landfall in La Palma and Tenerife, and 90km/h may be recorded in parts of El Hierro, La Gomera and Gran Canaria.
Exposed and coastal areas are most at risk, and people are being advised to avoid those areas if possible.

Travellers arriving in UK from Canary Islands must isolate from Saturday
Travellers arriving in the UK from the Canary Islands will have to quarantine from 4am on Saturday, UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has announced.
The decision is a big setback for the UK travel industry, which has been badly hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
Data indicates weekly cases and positive tests are increasing in the CANARY ISLANDS and so we are REMOVING them from the #TravelCorridor list to reduce the risk of importing COVID-19. From 4am Sat 12 Dec, if you arrive from these islands you WILL need to self-isolate.

The region of Asturias has declared that it is free at the moment of the coronavirus.
Health authorities in the region have said they believe that due to there being no new cases reported in the region over the last fortnight, that there is a possibility that the region is without any current infections.
The Asturian Ministry of Health said that they believe the last local new case of the virus was detected on the 11th June.
Meanwhile the first phase of testing for the new covid-19 tracing application has begun on the Canarian island of La Gomera.
Residents on the islands capital of San Sebastian are being asked to download the testing app to their smartphones for a simulated outbreak of the virus.
If the pilot scheme is successful, it will then be rolled out across Spain.
