Concerns over disruption to Tenerife flights today due to La Palma eruption

Flights to parts of the Canary Islands – including Tenerife – could face disruption due to the ongoing volcanic eruption on La Palma.

Weather conditions have suggested a change in wind direction that could blow the ash cloud towards Tenerife, La Gomera and El Hierro.

This could bring with it disruption to flights between – and arriving at the islands – whilst also causing ash particles to fall on the western areas of the three islands.

Strong northeasterly winds with gusts of up to 40km/h are forecast for that part of the archipelago today.
