Mayor of Orihuela, Emilio Bascuñana, visited the site of the new route yesterday to observe the works being carried out along the route.
The 2KM route will be fully paved, with clear separation between road and cycle traffic, as well as enhanced drainage along the route.
It is expected that the new path will be opened on Sunday 15th August.

Emergency services were called to a residential complex in Orihuela C0sta at around 9.30 on Sunday night to reports of a woman being pulled unresponsive from the swimming pool.
Despite the actions of neighbours and emergency services, the woman was declared dead at the scene.
An investigation into the cause of her death has been launched.
