Anti-investiture protest turns violent
A protest against amnesty and agreements between the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) and Catalan separatists turned violent in Ferraz. Approximately 2,000 people participated in the protest, expressing their discontent with these political decisions. However, extreme right-wing groups took things to an extreme by throwing objects at journalists and police officers. The situation escalated further when two Catalan separatist flags were set on fire.
Amidst the chaos, Santiago Abascal, the leader of Vox, made an unexpected appearance at the protest. Abascal had just left the Congress of Deputies and decided to join the demonstration. As tensions rose, insults were hurled at politicians, police, and the press, reflecting the deep divisions within Spanish society.
The protest was also marked by the presence of various placards displaying different messages. These signs reflected the diverse range of opinions and concerns among the protestors.
