Postal ballot deadline extended again

The deadline for postal votes in this weekends General Election has been further extended until tomorrow afternoon, the Electoral board has announced.

In a statement issued by the election organizers, they said that volumes of people visiting post offices had risen by nearly 185%, with some post offices extending their opening hours to handle demand.

1.3 million postal ballots are expected to be sent in the run up to the election, with some people queuing for hours to send their vote in.

The deadline is now set at 2pm on Friday.
