Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez says negotiations for investiture session are complex
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has said he is navigating complex negotiations for his investiture session, as he seeks to avoid another general election.
While details of the ongoing negotiations have not been revealed, Mr. Sánchez confirmed that he has had meetings with various parliamentary leaders.
Amnesty for Catalan leaders is one of the conditions for investiture set by some parties, and Sánchez emphasized that five groups, representing a total of fifty-six seats, are in favour of amnesty.
The news came as Mr. Sánchez faced boos and jeers during the National Day military parade in Madrid, while the King and Queen received applause.
Some in the audience shouted insults and demands for Sánchez’s resignation.
The parade took place in Plaza de Neptuno instead of the usual route, and several key figures were absent due to official trips.
