PSOE meets with Carles Puigdemont in Brussels
Santos Cerdán, General Secretary of PSOE, has confirmed that he met with former Catalan regional President Carles Puigdemont in Brussels at the premises of Junts per Catalunya in the European Parliament.
Other individuals present included Jordi Turull and Javier Moreno. PSOE and Junts per Catalunya have agreed to continue discussions in the coming days ahead of the planned investiture vote for PSOE’s Pedro Sanchez.
Acting prime minister Pedro Sánchez has written a letter to the PSOE membership supporting an amnesty for Catalan politicians who were involved in the 2017 disputed independence referendum and declaration.
PSOE needs the support of Junts per Catalunya, ERC, and other parties to secure the required number of votes to form a government.
Meanwhile PP leader – Alberto Núñez Feijóo – criticized the meeting, calling for the terms debated to be made public.
Feijóo also calls for elections to allow the Spanish people to be consulted on the planned amnesty.
