PP name nominees for speaker roles in upper and lower houses ahead of vote
Alberto Núñez Feijóo has named Cuca Gamarra as the candidate for the role of Speaker for the Congress of Deputies, while Pedro Rollán has been announced as Senate speaker.
Whilst PP hold control of the Senate, the speakers position of the lower house is highly contested following last months inconclusive General Election.
Negotiations are ongoing between parties, however the result will be a major pointer to next weeks investiture debates.
Last night Catalan separatist party ERC said it had reservations over the per-soy nomination for speaker, whilst Junts has yet to confirm if their seven deputies will support the left wing party.
Former Catalan regional president Carles Puigdemont said in a press statement yesterday that he was still waiting for information from parties before he gave his party direction.
