Investiture of Sánchez accelerates after agreement between PSOE and ERC on amnesty law
Pedro Sánchez’s investiture as the next prime minister has taken a step forward after PSOE and Catalan separatist parties signed an agreement on a proposed amnesty law for those involved in the 2017 disputed Catalan independence referendum and declaration.
The announcement means that the investiture debate is now expected to take place in the coming weeks.
The agreement text is understood to be tabled in the Congress of Deputies today, as a final part of the political agreement.
The clock remains ticking however, and if no prime minister is elected by the 27th of November, new elections will be held on the 14th of January.
