Feijóo to make second attempt to form government
Alberto Núñez Feijóo will return to the Congress of Deputies today for a second attempt to form a Government, after his failure to win the investiture vote on Wednesday.
This second vote comes after acting prime minister Pedro Sánchez criticized the lack of a political strategy by opposition leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo, during the European Social Democratic Group Conference in Madrid.
Sánchez presented himself as an alternative to PP and Vox, calling on social democrats to support what he is calling a progressive plan for government.
While negotiations for the investiture revolve around amnesty for politicians in Catalonia, the PSC party will vote against a resolution for amnesty in the Catalan parliament.
Meanwhile ERC and Junts have agreed on a joint resolution urging support for a referendum on self-determination and an amnesty law for those wanted in connection to the failed declaration of independence in 2017.
The resolution will be voted on along with other proposals. This is the first joint step by ERC and Junts in negotiations with PSOE for a possible Pedro Sánchez investiture.
