Spain commits to covering cost of adding Catalan, Galician, and Basque as official languages in the EU

The European Commission has said it estimates that the cost of adding Catalan, Galician, and Basque as official EU languages will cost around one hundred and thirty-two million Euros per year.

Spain has made a request for official status for these languages; however, a decision has been postponed pending analysis of legal and economic factors.

Despite legal concerns, Spain has committed to covering the expenses, but a decision is not expected in the near future.
