Energy Sector Questions Causes of Nationwide Blackout

The energy sector is questioning Red Eléctrica’s explanations regarding the situations that led to Monday’s nationwide blackout.

Government sources say the blackout resulted from a sudden loss of fifteen megawatts of power.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the root cause of the outage, which was the worst in Spain’s history – with energy firms stating they followed instructions and guidance provided by distribution operator Red Eléctrica during the crisis.
