Madrid court launches investigation into property purchase
A court in Madrid has opened an investigation into the €6.3 million purchase of a luxury apartment in the Chamberí district by the regional government.
The property was bought by the public company Planifica Madrid and was intended to serve as a temporary office for regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso while work was carried out at the government headquarters in Puerta del Sol.
The investigation follows a complaint by Iustitia Europa, while the Fiscalía has transferred four further complaints to the court, including one from the PSOE.
The allegations include possible misuse of public funds and administrative wrongdoing, although the court has not reached any conclusions.
The apartment has now been put up for sale for €6.7 million.
All deny any wrongdoing.
