Football fraud gang uncovered by police
Policia Nacional have uncovered two separate criminal rings that were believed to be scamming mostly Brazilian families, by promising they would turn their children into elite footballers.
Charging up to €5,000 per child at first, and then including monthly payments of up to €1,700, the gangs have been accused of selling “false expectations” to family members.
Raids were carried out in Granada in connection to the criminal gang, who worked in three seperate groups.
One organised recruitment, the other training, whilst a third group oversaw the overall operation.
11 people have been detained in connection to the gang, with up to 70 children understood to be victims.
