PP leader suggests lockdown in Ceuta over disease concerns
Partido Popular leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo is calling on Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to consider exceptional measures in Ceuta, including a possible confinement, because of what he describes as a public health risk following last month’s mass migrant arrivals.
Feijóo cited cases of scabies and tuberculosis, and said the government should take action to protect the population.
However, Health Minister Mónica García has rejected the proposal, describing confinement as unjustified, disproportionate and potentially counterproductive.
She also stressed that public health powers in Ceuta rest with the autonomous government.
