Weather alerts issued for torrential rain and thunderstorms

Meterological Agency Aemet has issued a series of amber and yellow weather warnings for today and tomorrow, as heavy rain is expected across parts of the Iberian peninsular.

Up to 60mm an hour is expected to fall in parts of the south and east of the country, with strong winds and possible thunder and lightning also expected.

Regional authorities in at risk areas have closed schools, as the weather front makes it’s way across land.

Officials have said that the sudden deluges may cause localised flooding, with parts of Andalucía, Murcia and the Valencian Community under yellow and amber weather warnings.
