Fighter jet crashes at Zaragoza air base
A fighter jet has crashed on Saturday at the Zaragoza air base, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed, with the pilot ejecting to safety.
Officials said an F-18 jet lost control within the perimiter of the airfield, and crashed. Guardia Civil officers were one of the first on the scene, after the pilot, who has suffered leg injuries due to ejecting at low altitude, landed outside of the air base.
Early indications suggest that a malfunction with the aircraft caused the crash.
In an update from the Spanish Air Force, they confirmed that the pilot was being treated for minor injuries, but was expected to make a full recovery.
