Fire near to Alicante-Elche airport brought under control

A fire located on the perimeter of Alicante Elche airport has been brought under control, after bomberos worked throughout the day and overnight to tackle the blaze.

Emergency services were alerted shortly before 10.20 yesterday morning to reports of a fire at a rubbish dump near to the airport in Torrellano Alto.

It’s understood clothing was burning, however the cause has not yet been identified. Despite the location of the fire, there was no reported disruption to operations at the airport.
