Elche beaches to be smoke free for the summer
The Ayuntamiento de Elche has announced that all of the city’s beaches are to become smoke free.
In a press releases issued by the city council yesterday, Councillor for the Environment, Esther Díez said the measure would improve the city’s beaches not only for visitors to them, but would also improve the areas cleanliness.
Head of of Tourism, Carles Molina, went on to confirm that information on smoke free beaches will be provided, along with the benefits of giving up cigarette use.
22.5% of the Valencian community are smokers, which results in nearly 6000 deaths a year.
