Hotel occupation rises to highest level in 6 months
Overnight stays in hotels have passed the 4 million mark for last month, the highest figure since November last year according to data released by the national statistics agency – the INE.
In their monthly hotel occupation update, it was confirmed that 4,052,125 overnight stays were recorded in April, an increase of nearly half a million from March’s figure of 3.5 million. Most guests stayed on average 2 nights.
The Canaries topped the list of most popular destination, with 15.2% of all holidaymakers and 30.8% of all non-resident tourists.
The Valencian community – including the Costa Blanca – was the fifth most popular destination for travellers last month, with 9.2% of all tourists staying in the region.
