44ºC recorded as heatwave warms up Spain

Early data from meteorological agency Aemet has confirmed that parts of Spain yesterday reached 44ºC as the latest heatwave crosses the country.

Amber and yellow weather warnings are remaining in place for much of the Iberian peninsular for today as the hot weather looks set to continue into the middle of the week.

The hottest part of the country was recorded at El Granado, an area in Huelva in Andalusia, where thermometers reached 43.8ºC.
