Rajoy warns Torra that autonomy will only be granted if Catalan government stay within the law
Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has issued a warning to the regional government in Catalonia, that the region’s leadership must obey the law in order to return to institutional, economic and social normality
The government formally recognized the powers of newly-elected Catalan leader Quim Torra yesterday, but failed to ratify his chosen administration, meaning Madrid will continue with direct rule on the region.
The proposed administration included four people who are currently being held in custody or in self-imposed exile.
