Tenerife wildfire finally under control

After nearly a month burning, the forest fire on the island of Tenerife is finally under control.

The blaze, which has affected over fourteen thousand hectares and involving twelve municipalities on the island, has been burning since August 15th.

Over 13,000 people were evacuated from their homes at the peak of the blaze – the cause of which is still under investigation.

The fire is the worst in Tenerife in the past forty years, but authorities have reassured tourists that the island is safe.
