La Palma rocked by further quakes as eruption continues

Another series of earthquakes have rocked parts of the island of La Palma, as the volcanic eruption and seismic activity shows no signs of ending soon.

Yesterday quakes measuring 4.6 and 4.3 on the richter scale were recorded around the town of Fuencaliente at a depth of 22 and 23 kilometers. These were the strongest quakes recorded since the start of the siesmic cluster over 6 weeks ago.

Meanwhile Guardia Civil are to investigate how four people passed through the exclusion zone and climbed close to the Cumbre Vieja volcano. The four are believed to have been identified and face charges of civil disobedience, as well as endangering emergency services personnel.

The breach is the second this week, after a boat entered the exclusion zone on Monday despite being warned to leave the area.
