Man arrested for faking armed robbery in Gran Canaria

Policia Nacional in Gran Canaria have arrested a man after he made a false claim over being robbed at knifepoint in Playa del Inglés.

The 29-year-old man claimed to have been robbed whilst trying to deposit €980 in a safety deposit box at a local bank.

However officers investigating the alleged robbery discovered that the man had made the robbery up, and had never been threatened.

Officers arrested the man over the weekend, who is due to appear in court in the coming days.
