British hiker dies in Mallorca amid severe weather conditions
A 26 year-old British hiker has died in Mallorca following flash flooding during torrential rains.
Officials said the woman – who has not been named – was part of a group hiking the Torrent de Pareis when she was swept away by flood waters.
While three others in the group managed to return safely, two were swept away by the rising waters.
One hiker has been rescued by emergency services, while another remains unaccounted for.
Search parties have said the weather conditions are hindering operations, with yellow weather warnings remaining in place today for parts of the Balearics.
Severe weather was reported across much of the country, with alerts for most of the eastern coast of the Iberian peninsular.
Flooding was also reported in Aragon, Albacete and Murcia, where a number of rivers broke their banks.
