Four British in court after setting fire to hotel in drunken prank
Four British people have appeared in court in Magaluf in connection with causing a seious fire in a hotel in the resort.
The four appeared before a local court in Palma de Majorca accused of arson. It’s believed the fire was caused as a result of a drunken prank where one of the accused tried to set a persons feet on fire using a lighter and an aerosol.
Two floors of the BH Mallorca Hotel had to be evacuated. Seven tourists trapped on balconies has to be rescued by firefighters after the blaze broke out around 8pm on Sunday.
Damages in excess of €200,000 are expected to be claimed due to losses to the hotel and also tourists.
