Spanish hopes dashed at Eurovision again

Spanish hopes of winning Eurovision were dashed in Lisbon on Saturday night, when Israel won the popular music contest.

Alfred Garcia and Amaia Romero, failed to win the votes needed to bring the contest to Spain. The couple, who are dating outside of the contest, were hoping to perform better than last year, when Spain came in last.

Spain languished near to the bottom of the list in 23rd place with a total of 61 points. They were one position above the UK. This year Portugal, in a reversal of fortunes, came in at the bottom of the leaderboard.
