Unprecedented April Heat Hits Spain and Portugal, Temperatures Soar

Unusually high temperatures have hit Spain, with temperatures up to 16 degrees above the average for April.

Temperatures soared above 30 degrees Celsius at 65 weather stations across the country, with a peak of 33 degrees recorded in the Pyrenees, the north of Castilla y Leon, the south of Galicia and the Canary Islands.

Plumes of hot air have brought calima conditions across parts of the country, however, that weather system is expected to cool off from today.
