UN investigators call on report from Spanish Government over spying claims

Investigators working for the United Nations have given the Spanish Government 60 days to produce a report on allegation of espionage carried out against Catalan pro-independence politicians.

The request was made following the upholding of a complaint issued by ERC, following last years discovery of Pegasus spyware on prominent sepratist politicians phones.

UN Investigators have raised concerns that human rights have been violated in connection to the independence movement, and have called for clarification over what authorities indended to do with any gathered intelligence.

The investigators have also asked for guidance on how the Government intends to address the issues and to protect the rights of all political groups in the country.
