Two dead in floods after river bursts bank

At least two people are confirmed to have died after the river Ebro burst its banks in Navarrra, Aragón and País Vasco.

The rainstorm, which crossed Spain as part of Storm Barra, left large areas of the regions under water after the river overflowed.

Yesterday regional president for Navarra announced that she would be requesting the declaration of a regional natural disaster.

The two fatalities were reported in the towns of Sunbilla and Elizondo, after the river Ebro reached a height of 6.18 metres.

Emergency services are working across the region to clean up as the waters start to recede.
