The Spanish President Declares as a Witness in Corruption Investigation
Pedro Sanchez declared this morning as a witness before Judge Juan Carlos Peinado regarding the investigation involving his wife, Begoña Gomez. Sanchez declined to provide a verbal statement, requesting instead to submit a written declaration. As per tradition, Sanchez held a summer meeting with King Felipe the sixth in Mallorca today.
This meeting follows Sánchez’s final Council of Ministers session before the summer break. The palace hosted this summer summary instead of the usual venue due to last year’s elections.
The King’s summer agenda includes a series of meetings with Balearic authorities, including the President of the Balearic Community and the Mayor of Palma. Values aligned with social and political engagement are central to these encounters.
In addition to these developments, Felipe VI is expected to attend various local events, including the presentation of trophies for the forty-second Copa del Rey-Mapfre sailing regatta. This reflects the monarchy’s ongoing presence within Spanish society during the busy summer schedule.
