Spain’s Congress to Hold Final Debate on Amnesty Law for Catalonian Independence Process Participants

Following a Senate veto, the Congress of Deputies is set to hold a final debate on the Amnesty Law, crucial for Catalonian independence process participants.

To overturn the veto, the governing coalition needs at least 176 votes.

The legislation – part of a confidence and supply deal which enabled Pedro Sánchez to form a government, has gone through a convoluted process, including modifications and a Senate hold.

With 172 votes against it, the margin for error is slim in what is being seen as a significant parliamentary session.
