Spain faces Christmas Ham shortage

Spain Faces a Christmas Ham crisis, as stocks of its world-famous Iberico ham have hit a shortfall.

Production was decreased in the crisis years, however as Spain’s economy has started to recover, demand has hit a record high.

A study by Kantar shows that Spaniards like to spend more than 20 percent of their Christmas budget on traditional food items like Iberico ham and shrimps.

However with hams taking years to cure, it’s feared that demand will outstrip supply in the coming years.
