Prime minister announces 20,000 new homes
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has announced that the government will build 20,000 new homes on land currently in use by the Ministry of Defence.
In a statement made at the latest session in the upper house, Mr. Sanchez said the new homes would be built using funds loaned from the Official Credit Institute, alongside monies raised by the Minsitry of Transport.
The news came after last weeks statement over the releasing of around 50,000 homes that had been bought as bad debt during the finanical crisis in 2008.
In total, around 183,000 affordable homes will come onto the market in the next few years under the scheme.
