PSOE Suspends Ex-Minister José Luis Ábalos

PSOE has suspended former minister José Luis Ábalos from its ranks, following his decision to retain his parliamentary seat and switch to the mixed group in Congress.

His decision came after he was called to resign his seat by the PSOE national executive on Monday following allegations of irregular payments during the coronavirus pandemic, highlighted in the Koldo case.

Mr. Abalos said during a press conference before yesterdays session in Congress, that to resign would be seen as an admission of guilt.

He denies any wrongdoing, and has vowed to clear his name.
