Pedro Sanchez calls for snap General Election on 23rd July
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has said he intends to call a snap General Election on 23rd July.
The announcement comes after his parties dismal performance in Sunday’s Regional and Munincipal elections.
“As President of the Government and as Secretary General of the PSOE, I assume the results in first person and I believe it is necessary to give an answer and submit them to the popular will,”

It’s understood he met the King this morning to announce the bringing forward of the ballot from November to July.
Sanchez has said he intends to remain as Prime Minister into the election.
An extraordinary cabinet meeting is due to take place this afternoon, which will formally dissolve Government ahead of the election period.
