Number of flights expected to rise next year – Aena

The number of flights scheduled to arrive and depart at Spanish airports has risen by 0.5%, according to the latest data released by airport operator Aena.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, the operator said that over 677,000 aircraft movements are expected next year.

Madrid Barajas and Barcelona El Prat airports continue to dominate the market.

Canarian traffic however is set to fall, with Gran Canaria and Tenerife South expected to see less traffic next year.

Alicante Elche airport is expected to see 5.3 million passengers, and Valencia 3.7 million.

Domestic flights are expected to increase however, with 1.1% more seats compared to this year.
