National Court orders halt to exhumations in Valle de Cuelgamuros

The Audiencia Nacional has issued a court order to suspend the exhumations in Valle de Cuelgamuros.

The order comes in response to a request from the granddaughter of a buried woman, citing violations of religious freedom.

A Christian association has argued that the exhumations authorized by the Government infringe upon the fundamental right to religious freedom. T

he exhumation process, which began in June, has identified the remains of twelve individuals so far.

Legal interventions have been made to halt the exhumations, with a Madrid court recently annulling a municipal agreement related to the works.
