Madrid Political Parties Call for Transparency in Venezuelan Elections
Political parties in Madrid are calling for greater transparency in the Venezuelan election results. Mas Madrid has reiterated the importance of verification, while Podemos and Izquierda Unida demand the release of all election records. The Colombian President, Gustavo Petro, suggested a scrutiny process to allow the elections to conclude peacefully, prompting responses from various parties. Both Podemos and IU previously sought recognition of Maduro’s victory but have shifted their stance to reflect concerns over election integrity.
Recent findings from the Carter Centre, known for monitoring elections, revealed that the recent Venezuelan elections fail to meet international standards and thus cannot be regarded as democratic. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez echoed the call for transparency, stating that verifying all election records is essential for acknowledging the winner.
