Launch of ‘Operation Special First of August’ by Traffic Department
The Traffic Department launches Operation Special First of August from three o’clock yesterday This initiative will cover over three million road trips expected until midnight tonight. Measures include increased patrols and road safety equipment to manage the anticipated traffic surge on major routes. As the evening progresses, heavy traffic is anticipated, especially from sixteen hundred to twenty-three hundred hours, as holidaymakers return to urban centres. The following day, disruptions are expected again, particularly between nine hundred and fourteen hundred hours, as residents head for holiday destinations and return from leisure activities.
The Traffic Department encourages night travellers to prepare thoroughly, including ensuring that their vehicles are roadworthy and well-lit. Additionally, drivers should be mindful of fatigue signs and stay updated on traffic conditions via social media or the dedicated helpline. The measures in place aim to keep roads safer during this busy travel period.
