Isabel Perelló Becomes First Woman President of the Judicial Council

The Supreme Court Judge Isabel Perelló has been elected as the President of the General Council of the Judiciary – making her the first woman to hold this position since the institution was founded in 1812.

Perelló secured sixteen votes in the election, surpassing her opponent, Ana María Ferrer, who garnered four votes.

The decision follows extensive discussions among the council members to reach a consensus amid previous disagreements between progressive and conservative factions.
