Irish Tourist Dies in Suspected Drowning Incident on Spain’s Costa Dorada
A seventy-two-year-old Irish tourist has died in a suspected drowning at La Pedrera beach near Salou, on the Costa Dorada.
Emergency services pulled the man unconscious from the water around midday on Wednesday, yet despite attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the man was confirmed after his wife reported him missing to their hotel.
This marks the fourth drowning in the Tarragona province this year.
The Irish embassy in Madrid has confirmed that it is providing consular support to the family of the man.
