Footballers and officials arrested in major match-fixing operation
Policia Nacional have arrested a number of first- and second-division football players and officials – including a former Real Madrid footballer – on suspicion of match fixing.

Operation Oikos involved nine raids across the country with up to 11 arrests made during the operation.
La Liga, Spanish football’s governing body, said it had contacted the authorities about a possible illegal scheme and had worked with them on the operation.
A lawyer for the club SD Huesca, confirmed that various people at the club had been detained on a warrant issued by a local court in the northeastern town. It’s believed senior management have been arrested in connection with the investigation.
