Ex Transport Minister José Luis Ábalos Subject to Police Search

Guardia Civil have carried out a search at the home of former Transport Minister José Luis Ábalos in Valencia as part of the ongoing “Koldo” case.

Authorities from the Central Operative Unit conducted a nearly ten hour search after being ordered by Supreme Court Judge Leopoldo Puente, as part of an investigation into alleged public contract fraud during the coronavirus pandemic.

Legal sources reported that the search began early in the morning and aimed to gather evidence regarding potential collusion in awarding public works contracts to specific companies in exchange for financial compensation.

Ábalos has been implicated in accusations of influence peddling and corruption, and consistently denies any wrongdoing.
