Eight arrested after three tonnes of cocaine seized

Guardia Civil officers have seized almost three tonnes of cocaine and four assault rifles from a rural property in Guadalajara.

Eight men have been arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking, illegal possession of weapons and membership of a criminal organisation.

Officers also found cash, vehicles and hidden compartments allegedly used to transport drugs.

Investigators say the property was used to store cocaine, while a nearby warehouse was used to prepare shipments for distribution across Spain and other parts of Europe.

Seven of the eight suspects have been remanded in custody.
