USA proposes trade barriers against Spain over Israel stance
The United States has proposed tariffs and export restrictions on Spain in response to the government’s veto on Israeli trade.
The Federal Maritime Commission wants to impose a charge of two hundred thousand dollars per voyage on Spanish‑flagged ships and limit the export of products including cosmetics, oils, ceramics and confectionery.
Washington argues the Spanish measures harm US commercial interests.
Spain denies any discrimination and says it will file formal objections within the sixty‑day deadline.
